Guthrie Govan’s “Erotic Cakes”

The topic as is, would probably be intimidating unless I provided you and informing that it’s an instrumental guitar album. Govan stretches his hands like the rest of the technical guitar wizards of today. The fluidity of his solo lines are melodic, not falling into the check-out-my-moves department of guitar work. Can’t ignore his virtuosity either – his guitar licks occasionally give off vibes of a Vai-ish sound. But a good amount of his guitar work pulls influence from Joe Pass.

I doubt this post concerns that many people. But for those who do like instrumental guitar albums, give this one a shot. You might end up liking Erotic Cakes. HAHA. That was funny.

Sorry.

The usual plus/minus situation. At least I’ll always have weird recommendations to me. But I figured I’d employ the reverse Google effect here. It takes a lot of energy to look for new music. Let’s do it this way: it’s easier to say with confidence “I like this music!” than it is to say “You’ll REALLY like this!” because there’s always that chance you’ll be wrong.
